Privacy Policy
Laurels Golf is a golf scorekeeping app for groups who play side games. This page says what the app collects, why, who else sees it, and how to delete it. We keep it short because the answer is short: we collect what the app needs to run a match between you and your playing partners, and nothing for advertising.
What we collect
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Account: your name, email address and a user ID from Sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address and password | To create your profile, show your name to the people you play with, and let you sign back in. |
| Golf profile: Handicap Index, GHIN number, tee gender, username, and — only if you turn it on — your phone number | To compute Course Handicaps and strokes, and (optionally) so buddies can find you by GHIN number or phone. |
| Your buddies and guests: names and handicaps you enter for the people you play with | So they appear in your matches. These are people you add; we never read your phone's contacts. |
| Match data: courses, tees, games, hole-by-hole scores, presses, stakes and settlement totals | That is the app. Match data is shared with the other players in that match. |
| Device push token | To deliver match invites and hammer notifications to your phone. |
| Location (while the app is open, with your permission) | Yardages to the green, computed on your phone, and "courses near me" search. We don't store where you've been. |
| Scorecard photos (only if you use scan) | To read the printed course data or handwritten scores off a paper card. The photo is processed and not stored on our servers. |
| Crash and usage diagnostics | To find and fix crashes. Collected by Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics. |
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers, and the app contains no ads or ad SDKs.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't take, hold or move money. Stakes are numbers you type; "Settle on Venmo" opens the Venmo app with an amount prefilled and nothing more. Venmo usernames you enter stay on your phone.
- We don't read your contacts, calendar, or photo library.
Who else processes it
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics, Analytics) hosts the account and match data.
- Apple and Google handle sign-in.
- GHIN returns your Handicap Index when you link a GHIN number.
- Google Places and golfapi.io answer course searches.
- Anthropic reads scorecard photos you choose to scan. If you generate a round recap, it also receives that round's course name, games, player names as entered, scores, birdies and eagles, and each player's winnings or losses, to write the recap. No email addresses, phone numbers or user IDs are sent. Photos and recap data are not used to train models.
Shared scorecard links
If a host taps "Share results", a read-only web page is created at a private, unguessable link. It shows first names or initials, scores and settlement — no email addresses, phone numbers or user IDs. Anyone with the link can view it.
Deleting your data
In the app: Profile → Delete account. This deletes your profile record and your sign-in account, and removes you from the username, phone and GHIN lookups so nobody can find you.
Some data is not removed automatically today. Your saved buddy list and the push-notification tokens for your devices are stored under your profile and are not deleted with it, and you stay listed as a player in matches you were already part of. Scores already recorded in completed matches also remain visible to the other players in those matches, under your first name. To have the rest erased, email us at the address below and we will remove it by hand.
Children
Laurels Golf is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
